- "By the glowing fog, the thrice-riven tunnel bore out into the Rift. I saw through each the eyes of the Trinity, and their mind was my mind."
- —Ketor Droak about his experiences in the "Rift."
Ketor Droak, or Droak the First, was the original Ketor of the Kantus and member of the Locust Council. He served as High Priest during the Lambent War. Droak was Queen Myrrah's adviser on all religious matters relating to the Trinity of Worms. He was the first to use Imulsion fumes to connect to a spiritual plane known as the "Rift" in order to create prophecies, gain knowledge, and contact the "gods" known as Riftworms.
Biography
Early Life
Droak was created in the Mount Kadar Laboratory by geneticist Dr. Niles Samson through the Matriarch, a hybrid generated from Myrrah's embryonic stem cells and Sire DNA. Myrrah was a human born with a genetic immunity to Imulsion, and the Sires were human children of Imulsion miners afflicted with Rustlung who were mutated by Samson with the DNA of creatures from the Hollow.
Droak was among the first generation of the Locust Horde, designed to be used as a weapon by the COG Army against the UIR in the Pendulum Wars. Unlike the standard hybrids at Mount Kadar, Droak was the first of what would be known as the Kantus. With an innate ability to access the Hivemind, Droak could heal the wounds of himself and other Locust around him.
Pendulum Wars
Mount Kadar Uprising
As the Locust Horde grew in the lab, Myrrah had a human daughter named Reyna with geneticist Dr. Torres. Fearing the work being done to his infant daughter, Torres fled the facility with Reyna and abandoned Myrrah. Dr. Samson was unable to prevent their escape, and lied to Myrrah that the two were killed in the event in order to contain Myrrah in the facility. The lie was successful in containing Myrrah, but she grew hateful of the human scientists and sympathized with her Locust children who also felt imprisoned and tortured by the scientists.
Droak participated in the uprising led by Myrrah, in which she used her telepathic abilities inside the Hivemind to command the Locust in rebelling against the scientists. The Locust broke free from their captivity and slaughtered the scientists and Gears stationed there. A mortally wounded Niles Samson initiated a cryogenic lockdown to contain the facility. Myrrah, Droak, and many of the Locust managed to escape and succeeded in becoming an independent race. Myrrah, becoming their Queen, led them deeper in the caverns of Mount Kadar to build their civilization known as Nexus.
First Ketor
Droak was the first Locust to assume the role as Ketor of the Trinity of Worms, the holy religion of the Locust Horde that worshipped the gargantuan Riftworms who were responsible for creating the Hollow and the life within them. Keter Droak, at some point, began inhaling Imulsion fumes to enter the "Rift", which was believed to be a spiritual plane connected to the minds of the Riftworms where they may offer knowledge and prophecy. His work was written into detail for future High Priests to study and practice. It later came to be discovered that the "Rift" was in fact the Locust Hivemind, which they believed offered prophecy and a collective consciousness.
Death
Ketor Droak eventually died and was succeeded by Ketor Vrol.
