Overview

Teddy Dearest ( Pookie 1er) is the 11thUS/14thEU episode from the third season of The Garfield Show.

Synopsis

Pooky or Robo-Pooky? Garfield is quite clear about it and chooses Pooky because Pooky doesn't dance or exercise. He actually doesn't do anything at all, just like him! Garfield decides to send all the Robo-Pookies back to where they were designed: Mr. Allwork's toy building.

Plot

One day, Garfield, Jon, and Odie are having lunch at Vito's, with Garfield taking Pooky with him. Anthony Allwork, who was having lunch at the same time with Jack, notices Pooky after his son takes notice of it. Anthony tells Jon that he is the CEO of a toy company called Allwork Toys. He believes Pooky would be a great toy to sell to kids and asks if he can use Pooky as a model. Jon and Garfield are reluctant, until Anthony gives Jon a check for a huge amount of money, and the two agree to give Pooky to duplicate.

At the company, the scientists show Anthony a prototype duplicate, which Jack likes. Anthony, meanwhile, wants to turn the duplicates into robots in order to appeal to kids today. The scientists oblige and create duplicates called Robo-Pookys overnight. The next morning, commercials and a news report depicting the Robo-Pookys are shown on TV. The robots show they can do various abilities, including entertaining others, which Anthony demonstrates with Odie. Garfield does not like the toys as he prefers the original more. Before leaving, Anthony mentions that the Pookys have computer chips that can be updated, and they can communicate with other Pookys in the area.

Later during the night, the Robo-Pooky activates and attempts to entertain Jon, Odie, and Garfield despite that it is really late. Garfield and Odie attempt to hide in the basement, to no avail. When the Robo-Pooky sees the real Pooky, he declares it the 'Grand-Forebear' and says he will obey the original. Garfield uses Pooky to tell the robot to let them sleep, which the robot agrees to. Later, the Robo-Pooky communicates with the other robots about the original, telling them they should pay their respects to him. All the Robo-Pookys head towards Jon's house (and frighten a few onlookers).

When Jon gets to the front door, he becomes shocked and horrified at all the Pookys attempting to get into his house to get to the original. Garfield gets an idea to get them out. Pretending to be Pooky, Garfield commands the robots to follow him and Pooky back to the Allwork Toys building. Anthony returns and watches in shock as the Robo-Pookys return to the building. He laments to Jon that with the robots heading back, he will have to refund everyone who bought them. Jack likes the first prototype Pooky since he has to love it to admire it. Garfield agrees with Jack, while Anthony is glad that he made his son happy.
