BirdGut is a free-to-play hand-drawn 2D puzzle platformer game developed and published by a single developer, Micah Boursier. It was released on Steam for Microsoft Windows and macOS on May 9, 2019.
Premise
This is a hand-drawn 2D puzzle-platformer from the perspective of an outcast bee who gets eaten by a bird, and then sets off an adventure inside the internal organs of the bird.
Story
A bee hatches in the hive. Since it is born different from the other bees, the bee is exiled from the hive and is forced to survive the world on its own. At some point, a bird attacks it and then eats it.
Once the bee gets inside the bird, all of the bugs that it eats are brainwashed and put to work in fantastical, mechanical factories that exist in the place of its organs, except for the outcast bee, whose very disability prevents them from being brainwashed. The bee takes it upon itself to destroy the massive bird from the inside out, and free all the enslaved critters within.
