The Asylum

WARNING! This article is about content from Xaonon's Unofficial Patches addon to Fallout: Who Vegas. A Download for this addon can be found on the Homepage.

The Asylum, also known as The Asylum of the Daleks, is a location added by Xoanon's Unofficial Patches. It is located on Skaro in the base of the Dalek statue. To access The Asylum, the player must activate the Dalek systems in Dalek Research Outpost 43 to get the access code, and doing so will start the quest The Lunatics Have Taken Over the Asylum.

Layout

Most of The Asylum is effectively one long corridor with smaller wings branching out to the sides. The player will encounter several locked doors along the way, which are unlocked by getting the access code from the Dalek consoles at the ends of these holding cell wings. Approximately halfway down the central corridor, there will be a large open room resembling the inside of a Dalek saucer where the player can open a communication array to the Dalek Emperor. The player must choose hostile dialog options in conversation with the Emperor to progress, at which point the next door will be unlocked.

At the end of this central corridor is the entrance to the intensive care ward. The player can open the door using the console at the centre of the room. The schematic for Bonded Polycarbide Armour can also be found in this room on a table in the corner. Inside the intensive care ward there are a few additional rooms before the player reaches "The Abomination" - Dalek Kaan. Dalek Kaan will comment on the player's future then expel them from The Asylum.

Easter Eggs

The Asylum is home to many easter eggs and references. These include:

  • The Dalek Emperor: From the 1967 story Evil of the Daleks
  • Several Special Weapons Daleks: From the 1988 story Remembrance of the Daleks.
  • Lightwave Sickness Dalek: From the 1973 story Planet of the Daleks.
  • Dalek Sec: In human form from the 2007 episode Evolution of the Daleks.
  • Dalek Kaan: First introduced in the 2006 episode Army of Ghosts, his ability to see through time was developed for the 2008 episode The Stolen Earth.
  • The "Eggs" Dalek: One Dalek in a holding cell will say "Eggs" as their voice is unable to complete the world "Exterminate". This is a reference to the 2012 episode Asylum of the Daleks.
  • Humanised Daleks: Three non-hostile Daleks are contained in holding cells, labelled Alpha, Beta, and Omega. These are intended to be Humanised Daleks first seen in the 1967 story Evil of the Daleks.
