Field Marshal Felix Garcia was the nominal President of the United States of Mexico, serving from January 1950 to 1954.
Field Marshal Garcia was appointed President of the U.S.M. following the Mercator coup of 18 January 1950. Garcia served as a figurehead while actual power was exercised by Secretary of War Vincent Mercator. When the Mexican economy suffered a recession in 1954 as a result of market manipulations by Kramer Associates, Garcia resigned, to be replaced as President by Mercator.
Sobel's source for the life of Felix Garcia is Kenneth Zarb's Garcia! (New York, 1965).
