The Aether (sometimes referred to just as Aether, or Aether I) is a mod originally made by a team of Kingbdogz, Kodaichi, Shockah, Flan, 303 and later Saspiron, to add a new dimension called The Aether, designed to be the opposite of The Nether. The Aether is made of floating islands, similar to The End, but with more life and color. The Aether contains various new mobs and dungeons with powerful loot. The Aether has an official successor, called Aether II.

The Aether mod was originally discontinued and development continued with The Aether II, however the mod was ported to Minecraft 1.7.10 and 1.12.2 in 2018 by Modding Legacy as The Aether: Legacy or Aether Legacy. In 2020, The Aether Team took ownership of the project again to continue its development again on modern Minecraft versions under the original name of the The Aether

Entering the Aether

The Aether can be entered by creating a structure similar to the Nether Portal, but out of Glowstone instead of Obsidian. The portal must be activated using a Water Bucket instead of a Flint and Steel.
