A Wakir is basically the equivalent of a baron of Araluen, only in Arrida. The only person higher in rank is the Emrikir, the ruler of the country, which would then be the equivalent of a king. Will learns this on his trip to Arrida. Note that this is not to be confused with the Bedullin leader name, the Aseikh. Seley El'then/Selethen was Wakir of Al Shabah, a city state comparable in influence to Redmont Fief. Most of the Wakirs are lazy, but Selethen is the biggest exception: he's captain of the guards of Al Shabah, and contributed greatly to the adventures of Will and Halt.
