Arnault

King Arnault is remembered as one of the greatest High Kings of the Union. He restored order after chaos of the civil war of King Morlic the Mad. The wall that surrounds the inner city of Adua is named Arnault’s Wall after him.

History

During the reign of King Morlic, the Union was almost ripped apart by civil war. He was considered a madman, executing his enemies while he ate his dinner. In the civil war that followed, Morlic was eventually murdered.

Arnault was one of the Union's most prominent noblemen. One of Arnault's closest advisors was a man named Bialoveld, who had been his tutor as a young man; unknown to anyone, this was the Magus Bayaz. With Morlic having no heir, the succession to the throne had to be decided by a vote of all the nobles in Open Council. Arnault was raised to the throne by near-unanimous accord; presumably through Bayaz’ manipulation. His reign restored stability to the Union, with Bayaz serving as his Lord Chamberlain.

King Arnault sired the great dynasty that lasted all the way down until King Guslav the Fifth, and arguably continues with King Jezal the First. He is also remembered for building the city walls that now surround the inner city of Adua.
