Overview

The Dragonkin is a magick-based special job capable of dealing high elemental damage, as well buffing the party and enabling monster allies. Unique to the Dragonkin is the ability to boost the performance of other dragon units in the party, as well taming dragon-type enemies. It has the highest HP, MP, and Magick growth among all jobs, as well as an excellent attack stat that surpasses even that of the Sword Saint's. Reis is the only playable Dragonkin (should the player recruit her).

FFT Holy Bracelet

To maximize the Dragonkin's damage output from its Dragon abilities, it is recommended to boost magickal attack as much as possible. The Black Mage's Arcane Strength support ability increases magickal attack by 33%. The Tynar Rouge is the best accessory for the job, as not only it grants bonuses to both physical and magickal attack, but also bestows various passive effects, including boosting Holy damage, which further enables the Dragonkin's strongest ability: Holy Breath (which hits randomly but can kill an enemy in one shot). This also helps a White Mage build to strengthen Holy (in a guaranteed spot) or quickly revive fallen/debuffed allies due to the haste benefit for a faster turn.

Given its high physical and magickal prowess, the Dragonkin can make excellent use of of Geomancy, as its damage is calculated on both physical and magickal attack; Iaido is also a powerful alternative. Due to having both exceptional magick power and speed, the Dragonkin is the strongest user of the Arithmeticks skill, although this requires considerable investment on the player's part.

The Dragonkin can also be used as a physical damage dealer, since it has access to innate Dual Wield; the player can equip the Monk's Brawler to further boost its unarmed damage, or the Knight's Equip Swords.

Tame will also work if the first attack puts a monster in Critical and the 2nd KO'd it (including Counter), with the monster being recruitable if revived or the battle ends before being Crystallized on its 3rd turn. Enemies are also prone to target their former ally due to being in critical, so this newly found monster party may be an alternative to a shield.

Much like other jobs, the Dragonkin can become virtually unkillable with the Shirahadori reaction ability from Samurai (which transfers well from Brawler since both need high Bravery), although this will not protect it from magickal attacks.

The Dragonkin's powerful abilities and impressive stat growth come at a price: it can equip only female-exclusive equipment and armlets. It also has low mobility, which can be augmented by equipping it with movement abilities, such as its own Move +1, Thief's Move +2, or even Teleport.
