Zaius is a resident of Broken Hills, serving as the foreman of the uranium mine in Fallout 2.
Background
A tough old super mutant, Zaius has worked in the uranium mines since Broken Hills itself was founded. When he later found out that there were people who hate mutants, he and Francis worked together to try and deal with them and keep Broken Hills safe.
By 2241, Zaius discovered that the air purifier deep in the mine had begun malfunctioning, but a combination of lack of materials and exposed pockets of radon gas prevented the under-equipped miners from being able to make repairs to it.
