InstaMash is a food item found in Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, Fallout 4, Fallout 76, and the Fallout TV series.
Variants
InstaMash
InstaMash is freeze-dried powdered mashed potatoes,[Non-game 1] packaged in a white cardboard box with blue highlights. A tag-line toward the bottom of the box states that InstaMash comes "With Real Dig-In Flavor!" The "insta" part of the name most likely indicates that the contents are powdered and requires added water to swell, similar to instant mashed potatoes.
Irradiated InstaMash
Gameplay article: Fallout: New Vegas
Irradiated InstaMash is exactly the same as regular InstaMash, but has been exposed to the high levels of radiation found at Camp Searchlight.
Preserved InstaMash
Gameplay articles: Fallout 4, Fallout 76
Preserved InstaMash is a pre-War version of regular InstaMash and therefore delivers no radiation damage.
