Faris

White Wizard redirects to a disambiguation page. For the founder of the cult, see Athena.

Faris (ファリス Farisu) is a White Shrine Maiden from Elentear who possesses a powerful White Magic that can restrict the Magic Power of others, which in turn she could, among others, enslave, erase, or steal said Magic.[1] In a plot to save her homeworld, she undertook the position of The White Wizard (白魔導士 Shiro Madōshi), a 100-year old dangerous figure said to rival Zeref's magical aptitude and the founder of Rebellious, as a pseudo-identity to cover for her true mission.[2]

Appearance

Touka Anime Appearance as Faris

Faris is a slim, young-looking woman of average height with green eyes and prominent dark eyebrows. The ends of her hair are sausage curled, bundled into four thick strands in the back and two thick strands in the front. She dons a corset over a layered dress, as well as dark-colored stockings. She wears many dark green ribbons, including two in her hair and one around the frilled neckline of her dress containing a stone in the middle. She also wears a gold headdress with a decorative rose design and a small blue jewel.[3][4]

While residing inside Touka's body, Faris uses Transformation Magic to make the Exceed take on her appearance.[5]

Personality

As a pseudo Rebellious cultist, Faris believes in reducing the world to a "white nothingness", having killed several Mages in order to attain power with a commanding persona and image of a warlord,[6] even admitting that the "white creed" belief of Rebellious eventually warped her more than she intended it too.[7] Her true persona before, however, appears to be a solemn and determined woman who has her homeworld in her best interests.[8]

History

White Arts

Faris came from a family who serves as priestesses who would erase Elentir's overabundant Magic several times a year and prevent it from exploding. One day, she was approached by Selene who asked her to erase Earthland's Magic Power as well as to kill the other Five Dragon Gods or else the Moon Dragon God would claim Elentear for herself.[9]

Later on, she stole the body of Touka, an Exceed that can use a warping Magic called Aqua Aera, to travel between dimensions and came to Earthland a few years before the year X793. Once she arrived, she went under the identity of The White Wizard; the original person who was the founder of a similar faith organization to Avatar, Rebellious, that created the philosophy of turning the world to a "white nothingness". Overtaking Rebellious, Faris used this cover as a way to nullify the magical power of Earthland's strongest Mages. In the months of early X793 she was responsible for the depletion of several mages' Magic, resulting in some deaths due to Magic Deficiency Disease.[10][2] One of her most notable victims was Mercphobia, a member of the Five Dragon Gods.[11]

Synopsis

Water Dragon God arc

Upset by the events of Jellal approaching Touka and addressing her as the White Wizard and her connection to Rebellious, she visits Jellal's hotel room, where she verifies his knowledge of her identity, deeming him a hindrance to her plans.[12] Faris reveals her intentions to eliminate the Fairy Tail Mages before attempting to steal away Jellal's Magic; however, she is halted by Touka’s emergence, who begs Jellal to flee. Gajeel then appears behind Touka and knocks her unconscious, binding her with iron cuffs.[13] Touka later awakens in the guild hall, where she is further questioned by Jellal and the Fairy Tail Mages. Faris retakes control, breaking her cuffs before releasing her restriction on the Water Dragon’s power.[14] Faris defeats Jellal and the Fairy Tail mages single-handedly, declaring that she had successfully dyed the entire guild white.[15] Faris later sets out in search for Team Natsu to conduct her mission to dye them white as well.[16]

Magic and Abilities

Whiteout (白滅(ホワイトアウト) Howaitoauto): A type of White Magic that allows Faris to have the ability to restrict the Magic (then able to utilize said Magic in exchange of high consumption of her Magic Power) of those whom of which she absorbs, as well as the ability to overtake one's body with her own, in turn fusing the two personalities in one body. Faris is able to erase her target's Magic to a state of zero usage or vice-versa, making it uncontrollable at her own discretion. The latter is showcased with the Water Dragon God Mercphobia, seeing as Faris robbed him of control of his powers, causing it to go astray.[1] Furthermore, Faris is given awareness of the whereabouts of the Magics which she restricts, as well as the ability to manipulate the target who falls under her control, in turn making them the user's slave to a degree.[17].

  • Floating Magic (浮遊魔法 Fuyū Mahō): After whiting out the original user and stealing this Magic, Faris is able to make things float to a degree.[18]

Transformation Magic (変身魔法 Henshin Mahō): While in control of Touka's body, Faris uses this magic to appear in her human form.[19]

Aqua Aera (水の翼(アクアエーラ) Akua Ēra): After being within Touka for a period of time, Faris herself is able to use this water-based spatial Magic although not as proficient as her. Faris uses this Magic to warp herself and chosen others in between dimensions. In order for the Magic to occur a water medium must be first present.[20]

Immense Magic Power: Faris has been shown to possess an immense amount of Magic Power, which she gained from stealing the Magic Power of multiple people[21] as well as a Dragon.[22] Such feats were made more notable by the fact that she is able to control powerful beings such as the Water Dragon God[23] who is in a different continent as well as controlling Jellal and the majority of the Fairy Tail members at the same time.[24]
