Overview
To access expedition, complete the Grandshelt Isles, and then click on the "Expedition" button on the home screen.
This game mode allows you to send units on expeditions to bring back treasure. An expedition has to be funded with Gil and a party of up to 5 units. Each expedition lasts for a specified period of time. Units sent on an expedition cannot be used in normal battle until their return, except for Arena, Colosseum, or battles in the Farplane. Up to 5 expeditions may be running at the same time.
Each expedition is ranked by difficulty, with higher ranks requiring a higher number of more powerful units to complete. Units with higher stats will have higher chance of success. Each expedition has a different bonus requirement, units that meet its requirement will gain higher success rate. You can bring specific consumables to increase the success rate further.
All units that embark on an expedition will receive experience. Successful expeditions will return with some type of treasure, plus a number of Relics which are used to craft Adventurer materia and count toward a weekly set of achievements with additional rewards. Occasionally you will get a great or amazing success from successful expedition. Great success will grant you additional rewards. This reward will be of the same type as the specified expedition reward, but the quality or quantity might be lower. Amazing success will grant you two type of additional rewards; One is the same as the one from great success, but in higher quantity, and the other is an Ancient Coin.
The "Moogle Cave" expedition allows units to increase their trust values (0.3% for base rarity 1~3★; 0.2% for base rarity 4★~NV). The expedition is available at any time with a guaranteed success rate of 100%, but it can only be attempted 3 times per day. The number of attempts cannot be reset using the daily refresh nor can its completion time be sped up by an Advance Token.

List of Expeditions
RPD stands for "Relic Per Day". Use it as a way to determine the value of an expedition from its relic drop rate. RPD calculation assumes maximum chance including consumables (+20%).
Base % is calculated from the amount of unit multiplied by max success rate per unit, which can be calculated here.
Success Rate Per Unit
Each expedition calculates individual unit success rates based on a difficulty rank and a set of selected stats, which may gain a bonus for units with a recommended attribute. Each unit is capped to a maximum success rate. Equipment and ability materia can be equipped to increase stats and give units a higher success rate; but only the specific stats for an expedition are used in the calculation, there's no benefit to increasing other stats.
Units with the recommended attribute are given a bonus when calculating their stats to determine a success rate. If an expedition gives a bonus to units capable of using a type of equipment, it is not necessary to equip an item of that type to gain the bonus.
Calculating unit's success rate
Success Rate Per Unit: (Unit's Stats / Stats Modifier) + Bonus
To calculate your exact percentage of success, divide your unit's stats with the value listed in the table below. Rounding may occur. The formula used to derive this value can be found in the Mechanics page. Bonus is added as a flat percentage at the end of calculation. Each unit may not exceed the maximum success rate specified.
