Germany is a country in Europe that is mentioned multiple times in Neon Genesis Evangelion. It was the homeland of Asuka Langley Sohryu.
During 2015
Germany was closely allied with Japan and the United States in combating the Angel threat. NERV conducted significant R&D in Germany. Germany constructed Unit-02, the first production model of the Evangelion. In 2015, Germany built and exported a S² Engine for the final assembly of Units 3 and 4 in the United States.
Economy and Culture
Germany was one of the few countries with an economy large and complex enough to build an Evangelion. Germany excelled at manufacturing key components for Evangelion units such as the S² Engine. Germans living in Japan often had trouble assimilating due to many cultural differences between the two nations as seen with Asuka's confusion with Japanese social norms.
