Ocho

"Yes. All sorts of things fall into the ocean. Picking up those things along the beach is known as "beachcombing", and I just looove it."
— Ocho

Ocho is a character in Mother 3. He is the friendly octopus butler of the Magypsy Mixolydia, appearing on Chapter 7 on Tanetane Island.

Profile

Appearance

Ocho is a red octopus with a big round head, and tentacles with white dots. Two of his tentacles have white edges, resembling a pair of gloves. He also wears a small black hat.

While the party hallucinates, Ocho assumes the form of a sailor, wearing a red shirt with yellow details, white pants, and red shoes. Over his brown hair, he wears a white captain hat with a yellow detail in front.

Personality

Ocho is very friendly, even helping the party to get their items back and giving them a ride back to Cerulean Beach after Mixolydia's needle is pulled. He also seems to like Mixolydia very much, always commenting on how pretty they are.

History

After walking through Tane Tane Island, the party arrives at Mixolydia's House. There, still under the effect of the mushrooms, they meet Mixolydia and Ocho. After getting rid of the effect of the mushrooms, Ocho returns the party's items, allowing them to fight the Barrier Trio. After the Masked Man pulls Mixolydia's needle, Ocho gives Lucas and co. a ride back from Tanetane Island to Cerulean Beach.

Trivia

Ocho Kappa Road reference
  • Ocho makes a cameo appearance in the Japanese DSiWare game "Kappa Road" which was developed by Brownie Brown (who is now called 1-UP Studio, who also developed Mother 3).
  • Ocho means "eight" in Spanish, referring to the number of arms that octopi have. This is to mirror Ocho's Japanese name being simply the word "Eight" (八 hachi).
