It was introduced as a Name Category with the support card of Jogirasta Gunlance.

While Johnny Walker, Exploding Mask was the first creature released that has "Johnny" in its name and is supported by the Name Category, it doesn't fit the usual Jokers theming of Johnny creatures used by Joe Kirifuda.

• The first of these creatures was Jolly the Johnny Joe in DMR-23, with their full introduction with the Jokers race at the start of the DMRP-series of booster packs and Duel Masters block, DMRP-01 Here Come the Jokers!! with Jolly the Johnny and the promotional Johnny the Beginning.
