Attack Lock is a gameplay term for abilities that prevent other creatures from attacking.

■ Creatures that have power 3000 or more can't attack. (Creatures that have power less than 3000 and get extra power while attacking can still attack.)

■ Choose a creature in the battle zone. That creature gets +5000 power and can't attack players until the end of the turn.


As attacks are the main purpose of using the creature card type, it can be a strong ability to prevent attacks.

Creatures unable to attack exist in the battle zone with little use, and like ​Blocker Blocker, is seen as a defense effect to be able to prevent them.

Some of these effects limit attacks on different conditions such as power, civilization or being unconditionally restricted.

Effects that impose attack locks on both players creatures are lower cost then those that only effect your opponent, but you must also aim to be unaffected by your own attack lock.

  • There are also some demerit abilities that only affect your own creatures from being able to attack.

Compared to not being able to attack at all, there are various usages of this ability in different deck types, but a deck needs to be build to eliminate the personal disadvantages as much as possible.

  • Some "Diamond State" abilities are able to prevent the attack lock. Often, the "Effect" locks can be prevented, but "Ability" locks can't.
