- Introducing a game show of fandom minutiae one-upmanship, where nerds do what nerds do best: flaunt encyclopedic nerd knowledge at Millennium Falcon nerd-speed.
Um, Actually is a game show on Dropout created by Mike Trapp. The show is a pop culture quiz competition in which contestants must provide corrections to statements about film, television, literature, graphic novels, video games, tabletop roleplaying games, among other forms of media. As of February 2024, Ify Nwadiwe is the host and Brian David Gilbert is the fact checker.
Gameplay
The gameplay of Um, Actually consists of three rounds. In each round, contestants are presented with false statements about pop culture that must be corrected. All corrections must start with the phrase "Um, actually..." or the attempt will not be accepted, regardless of the correction being right. Contestants are allowed to interrupt the host at any point while the statement is being read. At the end of the first round, the statement provided is fan-submitted. After each round, contestants are given a Shiny Question which varies in format from the standard statement but awards a single point. The game ends with a final statement titled Real Life Skills that focuses on useful information to know in daily life.
Most games consist of three contestants, although the "Love, Actually" episodes feature two teams of two people each.
