Career

2020-2023: DRIPPIN

On September 4, 2020, it was announced that Woollim Entertainment would be debuting a new boy group DRIPPIN. At the time, only six of the seven members were revealed.[1] Alex was revealed as the seventh member on September 11.[2]

On January 26, 2023, Woollim Entertainment announced that DRIPPIN's Alex would take a break from performing and temporarily halt all activities due to health concerns. It was revealed that shortly after finishing Villain : The End promotions in December 2022, Alex visited the hospital and began experiencing poor physical conditions and symptoms of reocurring stress, tension and anxiety. With DRIPPIN's seven-member comeback being the top priority, Alex was advised by a doctor to receive sufficient rest and stability. This resulted in the decision for the member to take an indefinite hiatus period from group and individual activities until further notice. The group would then continue to promote with six members for the time being until the member's supposed, anticipated return.[3]

However, six months later, on July 28, an updated statement was released announcing that due to his worsening health condition, Alex had permanently left DRIPPIN and terminated his exclusive contract with Woollim Entertainment after already being on an extended hiatus during the past six months. After undergoing lengthy discussions and careful consideration between Alex himself and his parents on whether or not he was ready to resume activities, it was unanimously agreed between both parties that it would be best for him to leave the group and their agency.[4] Alex then thanked his fans by sharing a letter in both Korean and English on his Twitter account.[5][6]
