Tarquin

Tarquin is an Imperial Templar and a member of the Shadow Dragons.

Background

Tarquin was born in Ventus to a Tevinter military family. Tarquin states that joining the military was one of the few ways Soporati get respect in Tevinter and his father insisted that if he wanted to live as a man, he'd have to join the military as well. Even so, Tarquin resented that one of the few ways a Tevinter non-mage can improve their lot in life is to fight in the endless wars against the Qunari.[1] At some point, he left the military to become an Imperial Templar in Minrathous, doing mostly administrative work. He's not particularly well-liked by his superiors,[2] nor paid too much attention. Tarquin typically organizes documents in the archives located in the cellar. According to Tarquin, the cellar is where the templars store things they don't want to deal with, like difficult ideas or difficult people.

Tarquin helped make the templars look the other way when there was a slave rebellion going down. The Viper aided in those rebellions and recruited Tarquin to the Shadow Dragons, a covert reformist and anti-slavery group.[1]

Involvement

Short story: Minrathous Shadows

Tarquin interrupts a female magister's card game to show her a ledger implicating her of involvement with the illegal slave trade and working with the Venatori. Angered that such an indictment can ruin her reputation, the fugitive magister begins to evoke an attack spell, only for the Viper (who was disguised as the dealer) to dispel her spell. The fugitive magister asks Tarquin and the Viper who are they and what do they want; only for Tarquin and the Viper to tell her that they are the Tevinter she forgot and they want everything.[3]
