Hirol is a Paragon to the dwarves and founder of the noble House Hirol. He has also established the great thaig of Kal'Hirol which is named after him.
Background
Hirol was born as part of the warrior caste. He was particularly good at arms and strategy and also mastered the art of smithing and ruling because his curious nature did not allow him to settle as an excellent warrior. Some dwarves attribute this abnormal nature of Hirol to head traumas caused by the Provings.
Eventually however he trained under the best dwarven warriors and smiths and for his achievements the Assembly named him a Paragon, a living Ancestor.
When the fortress of Kal'Hirol was founded, the Paragon expanded the thaig making it a center of learning for smiths. While in the thaig's workshops, Hirol conceived important inventions one of which was the Inferno golem, an invention that made normal golems more resilient and powerful. Hirol also personally trained other smiths and his favourite apprentice is known to have conceived a method in storing refined lyrium. His contributions to his thaig were so important that Kal'Hirol continued to expand and become greater and richer even after his death.
The Paragon is buried in a special room in Kal'Hirol's Trade Quarter. Hirol's house is still active and a major player in dwarven politics during the Dragon Age.[1]

Trivia
- Hirol was also known to love rich food, which rendered him substantially fat during his last years. This resulted in the paragon not being able to fit into his armor.[2]
