Each set of spells has a root word drawn from Japanese that alludes to the attributes of that spell family.
The root words for each spell set is:
- Fire is 爆/バク/baku, meaning "Explosion".
- Water is 竜/りゅう/ryu, meaning "Dragon".
- Earth is 岩/ガン/gan, meaning "Rock".
- Wood is 樹/ジュ/ju, meaning "Tree".
- Lightning is 雷/ライ/rai, meaning "Thunder".
- Darkness is 暗黒/アン/ankoku, meaning "Darkness".
