Illusia is the main protagonist of Reincarnated as a Dragon Hatchling ~Lets Aim to be the Strongest!~ who died and was reincarnated as a dragon's egg. He has vague memories of his past life and so harbors a faint hope of making friends with the humans he meets in this world. In order to communicate with humans, and above all, to survive, his goal is to level up and evolve into a powerful dragon.[2]
Illusia starts as a nameless dragon but later is named by Myria after her favorite flower, the Illusia.[3][4] Through many encounters and partings, he steadily increases his level and evolves, becoming a kind-hearted dragon who is now the strongest being in the "surface world".[5]
Appearance
Dragon Egg
As a Dragon Egg he appears as a huge egg. There is a hole for an eye to look through and three holes at the bottom for his feet and tail. His shape and appearance however look just like a normal egg.
Baby Dragon
As a Baby Dragon he has a little infant yellow body and round eyes. On his back grow a tiny pair of wings while his fangs and talons are short. He appears to be very cute at a height of around 60 cm.
Young Plague Dragon
As a Young Plague Dragon his color scheme can be summed up as being dark gray purplish with his scales having eroded black pigments. His wings are significantly larger and have gained unique symbol-like patterns on them. He has a thin figure and stands to nearly 2 meters tall.
Plague Dragon
As a Plague Dragon, the adult form of a Young Plague Dragon, he has an intimidating figure with a large frame and physique about 20 meters including the tail. He retains his dark gray purplish color scheme. His wings are fully developed and have more of the same unique symbol-like patterns while his tail is much longer. His scales and claws are also much bigger.
Ouroboros
As an Ouroboros he has two heads with pale bluish-purple faces, except that one head is Partner. His heads have long white hair like manes and two pairs of horns that are curved and branched. On his back are a pair of wide and large wings and further back a long tail grows. His hands are deformed into forefeet making pottery an impossible task.
Oneiros
As an Oneiros his face is much harder and his horns are much larger, having now grown to be at the edge of his field of vision. His body is covered in bluish-purple scales and the upper half of his face is like a beaked mask. He has six green eyes. He has four wings and a tail that splits in two. His body is larger but his height of view isn't much higher than when he was an Ouroboros.
Apocalypse
As an Apocalypse his black-red body surface is rugged and has horns reminiscent of a large devil. His head has a pale mane that extends to his back. His sharp fangs that lined his mouth are like magic swords. He has extra eyes on his forehead. The wings are large enough to cover his entire back, with an eerie eye-like pattern on them. A large crystal is attached to the tip of his thick tail, which looked like an eyeball. The legs are like a tough crows, with poisonous purple nails. His body is larger and his height of view is about 50% higher than when he was an Oneiros.
Humanization
At Humanization level 7 his height is that of a human's which is around 170 to 180 cm tall. He has the addition of white colored hair long enough to reach down his shoulders. His body is solidly built but not as much so as his Humanization levels 1, 2 and 3. He still retains some scales located on certain parts of his body while the color of his skin looks pale. His claws have become nice and pointy looking nails. Overall he can be passed off as a demi-human at least.
Personality
Illusia can be seen as timid and a bit idiotic at times. He is not the most intelligent nor is he the bravest person but there are times where he truly shines the best under pressure, he has proved countless times to be decisive in battles with many risks. Helping people with friendly intentions and opposing against enemies that lay before him. He's not the most perfect person and can be considered quite flawed but he tries his very best to be kind and approachable even if he's a dragon reassembling pure evil by the world. As he adventures, he slowly adapts to this new world bringing small changes to his personality and growing as a person overall.

- If Illusia had no evil dragon evolution candidates Nekoko states that he would have chosen Mini Angel Dragon since there are many skills specializing in recovery from others. The Little Rock Dragon subjugation may have given up and rescued the villagers and escaped.[6]
- After Eldia's death, Illusia's title "Ryuo Son (Son of the Dragon King)" changed to "Ryuo (Dragon King)".
- After defeating Baal, Illusia received the title "World's Strongest Proof", now being the strongest monster in the world currently.
