Scubis (スキュービ, Sukyūbi in Japan) are starfish enemies from the game Donkey Kong 64 for Nintendo 64. They are invincible aquatic enemies.

Overview

Scubis are rare enemies found only inside underwater sections of some levels in Donkey Kong 64, usually the interior of sunken galleons of the level Gloomy Galleon. They are variants of Shuris, also starfish enemies appearing in the same game.

Scubis resemble starfishes with five arms, displaying a purple body covered by yellow spots. They wear a diving helmet, exposing only their arms, and they hold a blue whip.

When the playable Kongs approach any of the Scubis, they do not react to them nor pursue them. The enemies only keep swimming around the same spot. However, similar to their regular Shuri counterparts, Scubis cannot be defeated by any means. And the player must evade them in order to avoid damage upon contact.

Trivia

  • During the special ending cutscene of the game Donkey Kong 64, a group of Scubis appear together spelling "DK".
