Mardaneus

Mardaneus is a healer living in Aleroth in 1218 AD.

Background

Mardaneus is the leader of the Aleroth Healers and one of the founders of Aleroth. When first encountered, he appears to have lost his sanity and encases Lanilor in ice; mistaking him for Thelyron Hashnitor, the demon of decay.

After Lucian resurrects Thelyron, it is confirmed that he was in fact possessing Mardaneus as part of a past agreement between the two of them.

Aside from the events of Divine Divinity, Mardaneus has also written books about magic, including On Magic Obscura.

Interactions

• During Rescue Lanilor the Elf from his icy prison, he asks Lucian whether he is an agent of Thelyron Hashnitor.
• When Thelyron Hashnitor is killed and Lucian is escaping the catacombs, Mardaneus is encountered, opening a portal back to Aleroth's surface, being insane no more.
