Kraken is a giant sea monster that destroyed the Merryweather and Lord Dread in 1242 AD.
Background
The Kraken is a giant predatory sea monster infamous for destroying countless ships. For years Cranley Huwbert was sceptical about its existence for two reasons, firstly he believed that no fish could grow to such a gargantuan size and secondly due to its crafty use of a boat on its back as a "lure" for sailors. However one night Cranley saw a small ship sail against wind towards a bigger vessel but once the moon was hidden behind clouds he heard wood break and people scream. After the sky cleared there were no signs of ships. Ever since Cranley was both cursing and grateful to that night's passing cloud [1]
Kraken is one of the most dangerous of the Voidwoken and in 1242 AD has resurfaced thrice to wreak havoc on Rivellon. First occasion was when Sworn Sourcerer Windego summoned the Kraken to destroy the Merryweather ship. Second occassion was when the Kraken followed Lord Dread into Arx Harbour where it had sank the ship and destroyed the Harbour in the process. Third occassion was when Braccus Rex calling upon the God King, summoned Void itself into the Tomb of Lucian sending its inhabitants as well as Braccus Rex himself into astral plane where Kraken emerged from depths of the Void.
Characteristics
The Kraken is deadly monster capable of using numerous tentacles to both crush its foes and shoot numerous thorns at its adversary. If tentacles are unable to reach their target Kraken may use its devastating magical breath attacks that deal large area damage and leave cursed surface in its wake.
Encounters
Kraken is encountered thrice across the game.
- First time is at the Merryweather where he will sink the ship in a cutscene.
- Second time is at Arx Harbour where the Kraken is surrounded by Abyssal Tentacles which will shoot Tentacle Needles. This encounter is exclusive to Definitive Edition of the game.
- Third time is at the Tomb of Lucian when Braccus Rex calls to God King for help and transforms the area. The Kraken in this instance is summoned by Braccus Rex and has Soul-Bound status.
