“Deals air damage to enemies around you; then creates cursed static clouds on the edge of the spell.
„—Skill description
Closed Circuit is an expert Aerotheurge source skill in Divinity: Original Sin II.
Description
Skill
Closed Circuit is a offensive aerotheurge skill that allows caster to release a small electric wave around themselves in 4 meter radius. The wave deals air damage to all characters and creates cursed electrified steam clouds in its wake. Additionaly caster will be protected for 1 turn by Air Immunity status effect which increases Air Resistance by 100 % and grants immunity to
Shocked and
Stunned status effects.
Characters without Magic Armour (with the exception of the caster) will be afflicted with
Shocked status effect for 2 turns and will suffer damage directly to their health. If character is already affected by
Shocked or
Wet, they will be instead affected by
Stunned status effect which will paralyse them for 1 turn.
Since Closed Circuit relies on Aerotheurgy magic it cannot be cast if character is affected by Silenced and
Enraged status effects. Closed Circuit skill is reflected back when the target is under Deflective Barrier skill.
Scroll and Skillbook
Closed Circuit skillbook is a magical item that allows its reader to learn Closed Circuit skill, if they have at least 3 points into Aerotheurge ability, and use it indefinitely. In order to be able to cast the skill, character needs 2 free memory slots. Note that the book will disappear once read. The book weights 0.5 and its base value is 750 gold. A skillbook can be crafted if a Closed Circuit scroll is combined with a High Tier Blank Air Skillbook. Since Closed Circuit is a expert Aerotheurge skill, traders will start selling the skillbook once player character or their companions reach level 13.
Closed Circuit scroll is a magical item that allows any character to cast Closed Circuit skill, regardless of skill prerequisites, but only once. The only limiting element in casting Closed Circuit this way is the amount of Action Points (AP) character has at their disposal in current turn. The scroll is craftable, weights 0.02 and has base value of 350 gold.
The cost of Action Points between Closed Circuit scroll and Closed Circuit skill themselves varies. The cost to cast Closed Circuit as a source skill is 2 Action Points and 2 Source Point whereas the cost to cast Closed Circuit as a scroll is only 3 Action Points.
Both the scroll and the skill itself are affected by other skills and talents that may provide additional bonuses.
Skill Modifiers
Damage of this skill is calculated with the following formula: (Base Damage) x (1 + Elemental Bonus%) x (1 + Attribute Bonus% + Weapon Skill Bonus %) x (1 + High Ground Bonus% + Crit Bonus%) x ( 1 + Misc Bonus %)
The damage of this skill is affected by the following attributes of the caster:
- Level
- Aerotheurge ability
- Intelligence attribute
- Critical Damage Modifier
Out of these the most effect on the damage have Level and then Aerotheurge ability as the latter increases damage by 5 % per point. Level provides greatest boost to the damage done. Intelligence provides the lowest bonus out of the three (3 points in Intelligence are equal to 1 point of Aerotheurge).
When it comes to enemies they may resist air damage if they have: Air Immunity Status and high enough Air Resistance (which lowers air damage done).
Closed Circuit properties can be affected by talents, consumable items (some of which may be affected by Five-Star Diner talent) and other skills.

Locations
Traders
Following table shows all NPCs who are guaranteed to sell hydrosophist spellbooks, with their location and coordinates in the right column, from them. The location shown in the table (and the coordinates) are only for the initial location the NPC is in. Note that some of these may have other spell/skillbooks and goods to sell. Almira may follow the Godwoken on Lady Vengeance if her demands are met. Also note that Lizard Dreamer requires a persuasion check to be passed in order to speak with him, otherwise he (and the whole encampment) will turn hostile.
- Note: This spell is also sold by Hannag at Cloisterwood, however she sells only expert tier spells of combat abilities. She is therefore not exclusive aerotheurge trader.
