The Tenor Fox is a character from the America Sings attraction at Disneyland.
History
Background
The Tenor Fox is a singing fox who performs with the Bird in a Gilded Cage during the attraction's third act singing the song "A Bird in a Gilded Cage". He is seen standing on the right side of the stage, where the two perform their act. While singing, the stage opens to reveal a group of performers on stage singing "Ta-ra-ra Boom-de-ay" where the fox and the Bird in a Gilded Cage participate with them.
Development history
The Tenor Fox character was created for the America Sings attraction at Disneyland in the Tomorrowland section, where he was placed in the "The Gay Nineties" sequence where he is seen singing the song "A Bird in a Gilded Cage", which opened on June 29, 1974. However, America Sings closed on April 10, 1988 in order to retheme the attraction to Innoventions, with most of the animatronics moved to Splash Mountain at the Critter Country section, which opened on July 17, 1989. However, the Tenor Fox's animatronic was not moved to Splash Mountain for unknown reasons.
Role in the attraction
The Tenor Fox was seen singing with the Bird in a Gilded Cage who sang with him just as the two performed their act in a slow romantic tune together. Just as the two of them sang with each other, the stage opened to reveal a group of performers - the Geese Can-Can Dancers and Singing Storks, on stage singing "Ta-ra-ra Boom-de-ay" where the Tenor Fox and the Bird in a Gilded Cage participated with them. The scene then looped into the attraction's final act "Modern Times".
