Steve Buscemi

Steven Vincent "Steve" Buscemi is an American actor, director, producer, screenwriter, and former firefighter, known for his distinctive wry, deadpan voice. He is best known for his film and television roles, including portraying Chet in Barton Fink, Donny Kerabatsos in The Big Lebowski (both with John Goodman), Romero in the Spy Kids franchise, Tony Blundetto in the HBO crime drama series The Sopranos, and Enoch "Nucky" Thompson in the HBO period crime drama series Boardwalk Empire. He is also well-known for voicing Templeton the Rat in the live-action remake of Charlotte's Web, Horace Nebbercracker in the Columbia Pictures animated film Monster House (both released in 2006), Scamper in the 2008 MGM sci-fi animated film Igor, and Wayne the werewolf in Sony Pictures' Hotel Transylvania franchise.

For Disney, he voiced Randall Boggs in the 2001 Disney/Pixar film Monsters, Inc. and reprised this role in the 2013 prequel Monsters University, sequel television series Monsters at Work and in several video games. He also voiced Mr. Wesley in the 2004 Disney animated feature film Home on the Range and Bucky the hamster in the 2009 spy-fi film G-Force. Additionally, he voiced Saloso in the Elena of Avalor episode "The Tides of Change".[1]

For Touchstone Pictures, he played Gregory Stark in the 1989 anthology film New York Stories, Irving Nitzberg in the 1991 gangster film Billy Bathgate, Garland "The Marietta Mangler" Greene in the 1997 action film Con Air, and Rockhound in the 1998 sci-fi disaster film Armageddon.

Steven Vincent Buscemi was born on December 13, 1957, in the borough of Brooklyn in New York City, to Dorothy (née Wilson) and John Buscemi. His father was a sanitation worker and served in the Korean War, and his mother was a hostess at Howard Johnson's. Buscemi's paternal ancestors were from the town of Menfi in Sicily, Italy and his mother is of English and Dutch ancestry. He has three brothers: Jon, Ken and Michael. Michael is also an actor, whose most notable role to date was as Officer Jimmy in BlacKkKlansman (2018). Buscemi was raised Catholic.

When Buscemi was 10 years old, the family moved from East New York to Valley Stream in Nassau County. Buscemi graduated in 1975 from Valley Stream Central High School along with future writer Edward J. Renehan Jr. and future actress Patricia Charbonneau. In high school, Buscemi wrestled for the varsity squad and participated in the drama troupe. (Buscemi's 1996 film Trees Lounge, in which he starred and served as screenwriter and director, is set in and was largely shot in his childhood village of Valley Stream.) Buscemi briefly attended Nassau Community College before moving to Manhattan to enroll in the Lee Strasberg Institute.
