Magnus "Mad Santa" Antas is an antagonist in the Disney+ series The Santa Clauses. He is a former Santa who was imprisoned due to his destructive and chaotic antics.
Background
Personality
Magnus Antas has a larger than life personality and has a high opinion of himself. However, just as he is constantly angry and short tempered, he can also be incredibly jolly, albeit in an archaic way. He actually appeared willing to put aside his destructive ways upon seeing what the 21st century had to offer and considered it a paradise. He reverted to his old ways upon seeing that people are still just as selfish as they were back then, implying that his misplaced anger is based on how he views people.
Physical appearance
Magnus is a tall, rotund man with a long grey beard, pretty much in the vein of the traditional Santa Claus. However, he is shown to wear a green velvet robe with white trimming, a belt with an "M" insignia on it, a small red snow cap, and tall leather boots. Additional pieces include a metal medallion in his person and a long red piece of cloth hanging from his belt.
Powers and abilities
Appearances
The Santa Clauses
Magnus Antas had been the primary Santa as far back as 1197 A.D. Supposedly his methods were considered terrifying even back then. He continued being Santa for the next 200 years, during which he relocated his Christmas operations from Europe to the North Pole so that the magic can be put as far away from humans as much as possible. The North Pole contained other supernatural beings, most likely to escape humans, including gnomes which Magnus would take a liking to, much to the elves' chagrin. The gnomes began to manipulate Magnus into turning on his former helpers and he became a tyrannical ruler. This was eventually put to an end when the elves used their magic to turn Magnus into a nutcracker, along with his main gnome Olga. Because of this, he did not enter the Yule-verse.
