Hunchback was a proposed[1] American, live-action musical fantasy film adaptation of the 1996 film, of the same name. The project was announced in January 2019, but its release date has not yet been announced[2] as it is currently suspended,[3] likely cancelled.[4]
In May 2023, Alan Menken suggested that further development of this remake had stalled owing to the controversy surrounding the film’s content and themes. He even suggested that it is very difficult to do the Hunchback film without the controversial "Hellfire" sequence as he concludes that "it sits in this limbo right now".[3]
As of April 2024, this project remains shelved as further details have yet to be announced at this time.[4]
