"Gymnauseum" is the fifty-first episode of the first season of Goof Troop.
Synopsis
Pete starts the exercise kick when he thinks he's going to lose his beloved Peg.
Plot
The episode begins at Pete's house, where Pete is on his chair watching football, but unbeknownst to him, P.J., Pistol and Peg are seen waiting for him in the living room, where they are waiting for the football game to end. Just then a commercial for a rival car salesman named Tan Roadster comes on, while Pete is waiting for his weenie doodle cheese melts, which Peg brought because she fears that Pete doesn't appreciate her. After giving a large burp, Pete continues to watch the game, when he hears a knock on the door. It turns out to be Goofy and Max. Pete yells at them and slams the door, causing a bunch of snow to land on them.
Thinking that this is enough, Peg, Goofy and the kids decide to hold a sort of intervention, where if Pete doesn't keep his promise of taking them to Mount Ladler, they will pelt him with snowballs, to which he reluctantly agrees. However, he soon discovers that he is unable to get out of his chair, which Peg initially refuses to believe until she tries to remove the chair herself. Pete wonders how he got himself stuck. Peg and the kids believe that it was all the food he ate while watching the game in his chair. To get him out, Goofy puts one chain link on his car and connects the other to the chair. Goofy hopes that when he drives off, the chair will be pulled, but unfortunately Pete is pulled along with the chair.
At Mount Ladler, Pete (who has finally gotten out of the chair) and the others arrive just as Peg tells Pete he needs to lose some weight, despite him thinking he's in good shape. As the others go to the mountains, Pete stays behind to eat something, when he notices that Tan Roadster is there too, and seems to be smitten with Peg, who punches him after he pushed Pete away. Upon learning that Peg is Pete's wife, Tad tells Peg to see him at the Mount Ladler winter games to see a real man in action. Taking it as a challenge, Pete decides to join in the games too, but will need to get into shape.
Back home, after being told that he will go on a diet and that means he should leave the kitchen, he finds a box of chocolates, which only contains a letter addressed to Peg from Tad, causing Pete to get into shape. First he uses an exercise bike, which goes well at first, only for Pistol to remove a part, causing him to crash outside. After returning home, Pete learns that Tad had sent numerous roses to Peg, which upsets Pete, who realizes that needs to bring it up a notch, and enlists Goofy for this task. At a gym, Pete tries out some of the gym equipment, including a video treadmill where he sees Tad driving and insulting him. Goofy stops him with burgers, only for Pete to fall and crash into the wall.
On the day of the winter games, Pete and Tad compete in numerous sports. The first event is dog sledding, and Pete is the first to win as he crosses the finish line while pulling the sled. The next event is ice dancing. Peg helps Pete stand on the ice, only for Tad to get in the way, so Pete throws Goofy in his direction, causing Tad to kiss Goofy instead as Peg holds onto a branch. The next event is ice hockey, where Tad fails to get a single puck into the goal thanks to Pete's stomach.
In the last event, Pete and Tad compete in a ski race down Mount Ladler, where Pete crashes between two trees, causing Tad to laugh, only for him to ski backwards as he nearly falls off the mountain, but he falls into the direction where Pete is stuck and instead of falling to his death, he instead crashes into Pete, sending him back to the mountains, where the impact causes Pete to fall off the tree. After Peg and the others race to see if Pete's ok, Tad approaches Pete and admits he was wrong and said he learned his lesson, even admitting that there's no such thing as too much of a good thing. He then tells Peg that she's got herself a real good man, to which Pete replies that behind a good man is a good woman.
Back home, Pete is shown to be thawing out from the winter games, where Peg thinks Pete learned his lesson of getting into shape and help save their marriage, only for Pete to forget about exercising and go back to his old ways. Peg tells Pete that it's time for dinner, but as before, Pete is unable to leave his chair. He calls for Peg, but she doesn't seem to hear.
