Florence Gill

Florence E. Gill was an English actress and voice actress. For Disney, she provided the voices of Walt Disney's Clara Cluck, The Wise Little Hen, and Assorted Fowls. She also provided the clucking sound effects of the condors, chickens, hens, and roosters in a number of Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Chip and Dale, Pluto, and Silly Symphonies cartoons, as well as a few feature films. In addition, she appeared in live-action in the film The Reluctant Dragon, alongside Clarence Nash to cluck an operatic duet as Clara alongside Nash's Donald, most likely for Mickey's Grand Opera. She also played Clara Cluck in the 1938 radio show The Mickey Mouse Theater of the Air and participated in the radio adaptation of Pinocchio.

Gill was born on July 27, 1877 and was a member of the cast of Uncle Walter's Doghouse on NBC radio. In addition to her animation work, Gill also appeared in live-action films. She performed her musical hen impersonation in front of a radio microphone in two 1935 musical comedies, Every Night at Eight and Here Comes the Band. Her other film credits included Way Down East, Larceny on the Air, Ever Since Eve, Mr. Dodd Takes the Air, and Obliging Young Lady.

She died on February 19, 1965. Her interment was located at Chapel of the Pines Crematory in Los Angeles, California.
