The Cetus is a minor antagonist from the 1997 animated film Hercules.
Role in Hercules
In the Hercules film, the Cetus is one of the many giant monsters that appears during the song Zero to Hero. He appears while Hercules and Philoctetes were rowing a boat through a body of water. While Philoctetes coward in fear, Hercules grabbed the serpent by the throat and threw him around like a wet towel. The scene then changed to a vase depicting Hercules holding the skeleton of the beast.
In another scene, Hades was seen melting a small pawn piece of the creature in his hand out of anger.

Cetus appeared a few times in the series.
During the theme song, Hercules managed to tie the sea serpent into a knot and throw him at the camera.
In "Hercules and the Underworld Takeover", Cetus dwelled in the Styx River when Hercules, Pain, Panic, Chiron, and Amphitryon's sheep encountered him.

- In Greek mythology, Cetus (also called Ketos) was the sea monster (usually portrayed as a sea serpent like in Hercules, but was also shown as whale and/or shark-like creature) of Poseidon that the princess Andromeda was to be sacrificed to until being defeated by the hero Perseus using either his sword or the head of Medusa.
- Another story stated that Poseidon unleashed Cetus on the city of Troy, only to be defeated by Hercules like in the film.
- The scene where Hercules defeats Cetus is one of the lenticular images hanging in the Magic Mirror Realm of the Sorcerer's Workshop of the Disney Animation Building.
