Angie is a 1994 romantic comedy drama film directed by Martha Coolidge and based on the novel Angie, I Says by Avra Wing. It stars Geena Davis, James Gandolfini, Aida Turturro, Philip Bosco, and Stephen Rea.

Synopsis

Angie is a young woman who discovers that she is pregnant. While her boyfriend is happy, she wants nothing to do with him and goes on a soul searching journey with her neighbors.

• For research, Geena Davis went to a flea market in Bensonhurst where she was mugged. She also attended an actual birth where the mother had her autograph her child's birth certificate.
• Madonna was originally going to star, but pulled out due to conflicts with producer Joe Roth who was involved at the time. Joan Allen, Kim Basinger, Halle Berry, Laura Dern, Sherilyn Fenn, Bridget Fonda, Jodie Foster, Daryl Hannah, Helen Hunt, Anjelica Huston, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Demi Moore, Kathy Najimy, Tatum O'Neal, Michelle Pfeiffer, Meryl Streep, Marisa Tomei, and Sela Ward were all considered to replace her. Additionally, Jonathan Kaplan was supposed to direct before Martha Coolidge replaced him.
