The Rags are the most basic type of body armor in the original Diablo. They have an Armor Class range of a 1 point better than even the body armor which comes after them, though their durability is a major problem (a problem that their Unique version has completely nullified) - early on, it is probably better to keep a set of Rags off than on, as the hero(es) will be stunned after taking nearly every hit for the first couple of levels.
