Mistfiends are intangible beings that travel the mists of the Cold Isles,[1] especially around the Spiral.[2] They are dead souls eternally seeking the breath and flesh of the living in a futile attempt to escape their prison. When they fail, and accept the mockery of life that awaits them, they are collected by Uthmaash-Ksarr.[1]
Mistfiends are normally barely visible, with only traces of silhouettes being glimpsed. When traveling in packs, they take the form of thick mists, and an an oppressive weight can be felt when one ventures near it.[3] Fortunately , they must become tangible as they seep into the flesh of the living to feed. This is their weakness, as they can be killed by a well timed strike.[2] In this form they are gaunt with pale skin, empty eyes, taloned nails and distended jaws which seep mists. At times, they still bear resemblance to the person they were when alive.[3]
