Lakrii

"As you have undoubtedly seen, the Dark Wood suffers greatly at the hands of the Bloodsworn. Their leader, Lakrii, was once one of us...until her heart was broken. She abandoned us and made a new family, while tearing apart her old one."

- Akara(src)

Lakrii was the leader of the Bloodsworn.[1]

Biography

Over years guarding the Dark Wood, Lakrii grew attached to her battle- captain, Kashya, but could never secure the affection she wanted. After a final rejection, Lakrii left. In recent days, a ghost-pale woman caked in blood has led a wave of defections from the rogues. Lakrii's new paramour presents no uncertainty--just the clarity of service.[2]

Lakrii was once a member of the Sisterhood of the Sightless Eye. She fell in love with Kashya, but couldn't secure her affection. She was eventually rejected by her, which broke her heart. She and numerous other members of the Sisterhood left the order, forming the Bloodsworn.[3] They revived the Countess[4] and served as her followers.[5] At some point (potentially even before resurrecting her), Lakrii fell in love with the Countess.[6]

In 1270, Lakrii and her retinue captured the Druid Hemlir, intent on forcing him on using his Druidic magic to spread corruption through the Dark Wood. While he was tortured, Lakrii led a raid on Blackstone Village, killing every villager and taking their blood for the Countess. Within their lair, she communicated with her master, who still needed more blood. The Countess ordered Lakrii to hasten her efforts, lest she lose her favor.

It was at this point that Lakrii became aware of an intruder/group of intruders, whom were working with Kashya against the Bloodsworn. Lakrii and her fellow cultists fought against them, but were defeated. Lakrii, however, was able to escape.[7]

LakriiSkarn

Lakrii later conversed with the demon Skarn through a vessel; the Cult of Damnation were searching the Dark Wood for the Worldstone fragment that the Countess possessed. Skarn ordered Lakrii to turn over the fragment, and she could have whatever her heart desired. Otherwise, the Burning Hells would cleanse Sanctuary. Lakrii commented that her heart desired only one thing, and that the fragment belonged to her. Furthermore, if Skarn had such power, he would take the fragment himself, not ask for it. Enraged, Skarn reached out through his vessel and attacked Lakrii, but she managed to slay the cultist, reflecting that not even Hell could stand against one who bore the Worldstone. Skarn, still speaking from Hell, warned Lakrii that he would not be so easily denied, before letting loose more cultists to attack her.[6]

LakriiBloodRose

Lakrii later encountered the hero(es in the lair of the Blood Rose, where she found that they'd severely wounded, but not killed, the creature. Believing that the hero(es)' blood would not be enough to revive it, Lakrii offered herself up to the Blood Rose, as a final act of service to the Countess. The creature drained her of her blood, and was consequently revived.[8]
