Fishing

Fishing is a gameplay element in Diablo Immortal. It is unlocked after completing The Greatest Pastime.

Gameplay

After receiving the fishing rod, fishing can be done in Ashwold Cemetery, Bilefen and Frozen Tundra. These maps have a Fisher NPC that sells bait and exchanges any caught fish, and there are fishing spots next to them. However there are additional fishing spots on bridges and in some shore areas.

After obtaining bait, the rod can be cast in a fishing area. A gauge appears at the top of the screen that is divided into 3 sections. The first section takes 1 minute to fill, the second one takes an additional 1 minute 30 seconds (2 minutes 30 seconds total) and the third one takes an additional 2 minutes 40 seconds (5 minutes 10 seconds total). Fish will randomly bite and can be reeled in or let go. Even if the fish is let go, the bait is used up. A bite will no longer disappear when the timer hits around 5 minutes. When reeling in a fish, a different gauge replaces the time gauge. A window randomly goes left or right on the gauge, and there is a marker that must be kept within the window. The marker normally moves left, and clicking moves it to the right. If the marker stays outside the window for too long, the fish gets away. The timer won't reset if the bite started before the 5 minute mark. The size of the window depends on the rarity of the fish, with rarer fish having smaller windows, which can be used as a clue if looking for a specific fish as any fish that is not the desired rarity can be let go to avoid restarting the timer.

The rarity of the fish depends on the section of the timer that was active during the bite: the first section results in a Common fish, the second one results in a Magic fish, and the third section results in a Rare or higher quality fish. If the bar moves to a different section while the bite is active, the fish will still be of the rarity corresponding to the section the bite started in.

A player can carry up to 20 fish. Turning in fish rewards gold and equipment.

There is a small chance to fish up a chest that contains items and a Normal Gem. This has a limit of 3 per day.
