Fend is an Amazon Skill in Diablo II.

Lore

Once an Amazon warrior has attained mastery over the spear, she can engage and destroy multiple enemies in close quarter battle. Many of those enemies will be lucky to be alive after the vicious onslaughts of these attacks have ended. Grand Mistress Celestia was able to demonstrate this ability to the Initiates of Athulua by striking down a dozen experienced warriors in the space of an arrow's flight.

This attack strikes multiple melee targets (within striking range of the Amazon) within a short time (about 1 second). The sequence may not be interrupted. Each hit is resolved with bonus damage and Attack Rating, and all modifiers a regular melee hit would have against that target.

The maximum number of targets is only limited by the size of enemies close to Amazon, and each target suffers only one hit per cast. For realistic purposes, a maximum of 5-6 targets will be hit with one cast.

Note that this skill has a dangerous bug that limits its usefulness: if any of the hits misses or is interrupted, all remaining hits will likewise miss, while the animation will still play out normally. This does include interruptions caused by Dodge triggering.
