Overview

Newtro (Hangul:뉴트로 nyuteuro) is the 5th extended play (EP) released by DIA. It was released on March 19, 2019 with the title track "Woowa (우와)" and 4 other tracks. This EP marked the first release 2019.

Description

DIA, which ranked first in a music show for the first time with ‘WooWoo’ in 1,066 days since its debut, comes back in about seven months. The fifth mini album ‘NEWTRO’ is a compound word of ‘NEW’ and ‘RETRO’ and includes five songs in various genres showing the different sides of DIA to create a new retro trend.

Background and Release

On February 20, 2019, MBK Entertainment announced a March comeback for DIA. THe agency stated they would be working with Shinsadong Tiger^[1] for the album, and it would be released on the 28th.^[2]^[3] Despite the upcoming release, a few days later on March 3, MBK stated that member Jenny would be sitting out on comeback activities due to feeling pain in her knee.^[4]^[5] The first teaser was released on March 12, revealing the album name to be "Newtro".^[6] The album was released on March 19, 2020 with it's M/V.^[7]
