Fireteam

A Fireteam is a small squad composed of three to six players, intended to make combating enemies and completing tasks easier than when playing solo. Fireteams are able to take on more dangerous enemies and tasks than solo players, and may be rewarded with greater loot and experience as a result. Fireteams may be composed of multiple different classes.

Bungie highlights the importance of Fireteams in Destiny as being "your finest weapons" in combat.^[1] Working together to bring down powerful enemies is recommended, but is not necessarily mandatory when in a Fireteam, as players who wish to operate independent of their teammates can still be an effective member of a team; for example, snipers can watch over their teammates from afar.
