Trell was the commanding officer of the Shadow Army. He led, alongside Sheela, during the Battle for Deltora. Trell was the descendant of Deltoran moutain bandits.[1]
History
During the Shadow Lord's invasion of the Land of Dragons, Trell, the descendant of bandits, betrayed his country and joined the invading Shadow Army, clearly in the hopes of power and riches. He was eventually appointed commander of the Shadow Army.
Battle for Deltora
Trell was the commanding officer during the Battle for Deltora. He led the Shadow Army into battle and worked closely with Sheela. He was shocked when he saw Greers falling to their deaths and could not believe what he was seeing.[1]
Killing of Sheela
After Sheela had seen the downfall of her Greers, she realised she was no longer needed and prepared to gallop away. Commander Trell asked her what she was doing and ordered her to remain. When Sheela further angered Trell by mocking him, Trell stabbed her, piercing her heart.[1]
Physical appearance
Trell were a fine-looking man. He wore gold bands clasped around his wrists and gold hoops, hung from his ears. His eyes were "as cold as stones" — expressionless and showing little emotion. He rode a tall grey horse, which once belonged to a Rithmere chief, and the chief's bleached skull swung from the saddle of the horse.[1]
Personality
Trell often asserted his authority and saw himself above everyone, especially Sheela. His only loyalty was to himself, implying that he did not even care for the Shadow Lord, and only followed it because of what he might gain. He could be angered very easily and often did things out of rage.[1] Despite his, Trell, like most of the Shadow Lord's servants, feared his master's anger and knew all too well of the fate he would face if the Shadow Army failed to take Hira under his command.
Abilities
Trell was a talented fighter and leader and had excellent sword skills.
