Manti are a large group of semintelligent insectoids that took part in the Swarm Wars.
Characteristics
There are many different varieties of Manti, but they all share common characteristics. With the exceptions of Stingrays and ground units, all Manti have eight limbs. Two of these are blunt, serving the purpose of grasping arms and mouthparts. Two more arms are long and clawed, often ussed to jab at captured colonists. The two rear appendages are shorter and clawed, and are also used to jab at captured humans. The final two look more like blunt horns on the sides of the oval shaped head carpace, and aid in flight.
All Manti have a hard, organic carpace, but it is stronger or weaker in others, varying on the subspecies. Baiter Pilots have the weakest carpace, while Manti Widows have some of the strongest.
The Manti individually are only semisentient, but they are partially hive-minded to the highly intelligent Manti Queen.
All Manti have organic based weapons, ranging from short range homing plasma bolts, to long range plasma torpedoes. Due to the organic origin of the weapons, they can grow extra ammunition. Some other Manti have medium range homing missiles. The Queen has four rapid fire plasma bolt turrets.
All flying Manti glow distictive colors, as a by-product of their unusual metabolism. The metabolism produces energy, which is expelled from the body in microscopic pores to produce thrust.
Types of Manti
Manti are only one species, but they have differentiated into multiple distinct subspecies since the first swarm attacked. It is noticable that any traces of the first swarms original appearance has changed to a more compact appearance with a lot less tentacles.
Manti Commanders
- Manti Queen - The most intellegent Manti known to exist and primary Manti creator. She is not known to move.
- Manti Dreadnought - A massive mobile Manti commander.
- Brain Bug - A smaller command unit, with more speed.
Manti Landers
- Manti Lander - The generic Manti enemy.
- Gamma Lander - A slightly upgraded Lander.
- Beta Lander - The most powerful Manti Lander, in existance.

- Manti Yellowjacket - A Manti that dissapeared as the Wars continued.
- Manti Mutant - Mutated Manti Lander.
- Manti Stingray - A Manti strong enough to carry objects away.
- Podsnake - Strange serpentine creature.
Ground Manti
