Drakonids (竜人) are one of Vida's progeny and the offspring of Tiamat. Although easily misunderstood because of their reptilian-like appearance, they are a pure native race of Lambda, without roots in monsters.[1]
Appearance
Drakonids resemble humanoid dragons, from which they have inherited horns, wings and scales.[2]
Temperament
Supposedly, many Drakonids have judicious, calm personalities. However, this is only a mask, and drakonids are taught from childhood to always exercise self-control and restraint, so that they do not ruin themselves by indulging in their desires.[2]
In fact, drakonids have a weakness for delicious food and drink, and alcohol in particular. Once they start drinking, they continue drinking until they lose consciousness. They are also lustful and prone to falling in love easily, quickly turning their eyes towards members of the opposite sex. This is a trait they apparently inherited from the elder dragons.[2]
Culture
Although drakonids are not related to monsters, they are nevertheless treated the same as Vida's progeny that originated from monsters, due to their appearance.[2]
Reproduction
Drakonids live a minimum of 200 years, but according to legend, one drakonid lived to be 1000 years old, so there's great variations from individual to individual.[2]
"They lay one egg at a time, and hatched children take a variable length of time to mature. Most mature in approximately" 15-20 years, "but there have apparently been Drakonids who have had the appearance of children for over" 100 years.[2]
Abilities
Since neither of their progenitors were evil gods, drakonids do not have a monster rank.[2]
"As one would expect from a race originating from an Elder Dragon, Drakonids are tremendously powerful, and it is said that a hundred human soldiers are needed to defeat a single Drakonid warrior. In fact, there is no small number of Drakonid adventurers who have reached B-class or above. Of course, this does not mean that every Drakonid is capable of doing so, however."[2]
Trivia
- Drakonids resemble lizardmen and kijins in appearance, however both of these have a monster rank in contrast to drakonids. This is because lizardmen are monsters, while kijins descend from Zantark after he fused with evil gods, while drakonids are not related to the evil gods at all, since they descend from Vida and Tiamat.
