Zod was a Kryptonian in Superman's fantasy world created by the Black Mercy.
History
When Van-El slipped and mentioned Kal-El's upcoming birthday party, Loana tried to pass it off as being the party for "Little Zod".
Background information
- The Zod mentioned in the DCAU is undoubtedly a reference to Dru-Zod, a Kryptonian general who launched a coup against the Science Council and was banished to the Phantom Zone by Jor-El. The character is one of Superman's most notable rogues, made famous in Superman II for the line "Come to me, son of Jor-El. Kneel before Zod!". A variation of this line was used by Brainiac in "New Kids in Town"
- A version of the classic DC Comics version of General Zod somewhat resembling actor Terence Stamp (who played the character in Superman II), first appeared in Superman Adventures #21 (1997). This version of the character was a known criminal from Argo. This interpretation of the character reappeared in Justice League Unlimited #34, (2007), but with stronger ties to Krypton. This later appearance marked the first and only interaction between Zod and Superman in the DCAU.
