Mother Box

The Mother Box was a small, handheld supercomputer used by the New Gods of both Apokolips and New Genesis. Orion also used it to help explain the ongoing conflict between the two worlds. Darkseid used his to take control of Brainiac's central control console, programming Brainiac to serve Darkseid. While Brainiac is fully aware of what is happening, he has no choice but to obey Darkseid's command. Connected to the Source, all Mother Boxes are capable of opening boom tubes for interplanetary transportation.

Background information

In DC Comics, the Mother Box was the creation of Himon, a scientist from Apokolips who opposed Darkseid's rule and distributed the Mother Boxes after peace was achieved. Mother Boxes are sentient computers with powers and properties not fully understood, who have a strong connection with their owners, and will self-destruct if their owner is killed. Additionally, Orion required a Mother Box to help him maintain control over his inner rage.
