Uncle Sam

Uncle Sam is a spiritual entity representing the spirit of the United States of America. His adventures originally took place during the Golden Age in the Quality Universe, but he was introduced into mainstream continuity during the Crisis on Infinite Earths. As one of the oldest surviving super-heroes, he continues to fight against evil and acts as a mentor to the younger generation. He is a founding member and the leader of the Freedom Fighters. Uncle Sam was created for Quality Comics by Will Eisner, first appearing in National Comics #1. (1940)
