Tala was a tiny kingdom in the Himalayas, which retained its traditional hereditary monarchy well into the 20th Century.
History
In the late 1960s the tiny Himalayan kingdom of Tala was ruled by Prince Sabul. At this time, Tala's vast resources of uranium were not known to the public nor the monarchy.
Tala's remote location in the windswept Himalayas kept its scattered villages quite isolated, making the villagers easy prey for a pack of Flying Yeti. Helicoptors were useless in this region, which rendered the government unable to send military assistance quickly enough to be effective. The situation had become sufficiently dire that Prince Sabul was seriously considering accepting the offer of military assistance from his powerful neighboring nation. This would certainly become a permanent encroachment, so Sabul traveled to the United States to seek assistance in this matter. In Midway City he encountered Hawkman and Hawkgirl, who volunteered to help.
Sabul's cousin Princess Vana, in cahoots with General Kin-Yo, was behind the Flying Yeti raids, which were sponsored by Tala's neighboring nation, as part of her elaborate scheme to supplant Sabul on the throne. She wore a powered armor suit, as both a weapon and a disguise, styling herself the "Snow Fiend." She was defeated by Hawkgirl and captured alive, while Kin-Yo fell to his death while fleeing from Hawkman.
