History

The Monitor Sphere is an archetypal realm and fundamental world where everything is more profound and absolute and was described as a realm of nothingness beyond the Multiverse, the Sphere of the Gods and even the Comic Book Limbo.[1]

Even time itself, rather than being an abstract temporal dimension, is a clockwork pattern painted across the sky for the inhabitants of the Monitor Sphere. According to Mar Novu, the Monitor Sphere exist at the edge of thing and was formed from the universal current structure.[2]

Points of Interest

  • Nil: Nil was the home of the Monitors. Nil is so vast that its inhabitants, the Monitors view the Orrery Of Worlds as a mere "germ world" and need to reduce their scale in order to physically interact with the Orrery Of Worlds. When Mar Novu re-formed after the Crisis on Infinite Earths, he was split into 52 version of himself, giving birth to the Monitors.[3] Neon the Unknown once described Nil as the "Multiverse's capstone" and if Nil is destroyed, the Multiverse will be destroyed as well.[4] After the Final Crisis and the extinction of the Monitors, Nil was left uninhabited.
